  1. M3 isnt a sports car. Never was. The first was a homologation car based on a compact premium sedan. From the second generation on, Its a compact Sporty GT. So yes, there are people that would have bought it even if they had inifinite money, but not the sportds car buyers, no. As for which was the best, I would say the E36 (euro, obviously) was when they were the most in front of their competitors, (though this can be debated), which I guess would qualify as "best" to me.

  2. E30 was outdated styling wise even at launch more or less. It only had gotten worse when the M3 launched, so the heavy aero mods such as the taller bootlid saved a very long in the teeth looking car. Thats why it is very respectable.
