@mortensenvick5711 You dont need carbon ceramics on a street car. You dont need larger brakes than can fit under an 18" wheel either. Heck, even 17" is enough for way above any legal speed outside Germany, and really even inside Germany as well.

@real151kmh It is a low number these days, but not so much back then. Certainly not in europe. People in europe have very little fascination with stoplight racing as far as I can tell, its mostly an American thing. To be honest, I dont think Americans are all that fascinated with it really either, I think its mostly the number on the paper they want a lot of the time.

To be fair even back then there were a lot of models that didnt have it (according to what you likely mean by logical, at least).

@FuckTrumpFuckYouIfYouVoted4Him Yes, I "got it", since thats exactly what I assumed he meant. And my comment still stand, since even since the 1980s and onwards, BMW didnt follow that "logic" anymore. Perhaps you didnt know this when you made your comment, because otherwise it makes even less sense as a reply...

@FuckTrumpFuckYouIfYouVoted4Him You really posted this kind of stuff as replies? Even as ironic trolling, its not good enough. At least not for me.

Cloth seats are better for sitting in and driving. The fascination with leather seats is a holdover from when it was an expensive option, which still lives on in peoples mind to this day. if its "upscale" = leather is necessary, in their mind. It has only recently begun to change, and only for some cars. For example, sporty versions of some cars can be higher valued with "cloth" seats compared to leather.

@bwofficial1776 People buy cars because of looks, so thats unlikely to happen anytime soon, if left to their own devices.

Depends on what you mean by "all the toys". If you mean literally all options, then no. No car did as standard, even the long wheel base v12

@Yvaneify If thats all you need, its fair enough I say.
1
@Yvaneify Yes, but you are not paying top dollar. Its cheaper than the higher spec 7 series. For those that want and need more, well that choice is still there. This is for those that dont care. Havent you seen lots of comments that say "just more stuff to break, I dont need it!"? Car review videos are often littered by them. More choice is a good thing.

@GlennC789 Yep exactly regarding model number, but I wonder in what way was it a lie that it wasnt "equivalent" do you think? Or do you mean just the model numbering in itself was seen as a "lie"?
1
@FuckTrumpFuckYouIfYouVoted4Him No, its as simple as your posting here makes literally no sense, which is simple to see. On top of that, you obviously dont believe it yourself either. So that leaves two alternatives: Some form of grave impairment or trolling. Neither of which I am intersted in interacting with further. This will be it.

@BaM7Up And 523 e39. 750 e38. And other examples, just in the 90s, yes. Had a 540 E39 myself.

@lbnewell23 Almost right, it was the one two generations previous, with the model code "E23" 7 series that did that, back in the 80s, as I wrote from the start above. Dont expect any reply that adressed what you meant from that guy, hes obviously not interested in having a serious discussion for whatever reason. Nothing unusual about that, but for obvious reasons there is little sense in engaging with it seriously.

@GoalSquad666 Yep, low spec cars brand new cars are mostly bought by older people that didnt grow up with certain features and see no need for them.

@ruk2023-- Yes I can agree with those things, However, some people who are not well versed in how many options there truly are for BMW and Mercedes, (and in modern days Audi as well) think thats pretty much all you can get, when there are tons more. Often seen in ads stating "full spec" or similar ;) when just about not a single one ever left the factory with full option. Even my 3 series which hasnt got as many options availible to buy as a 7 series, has got options availible that most people never heard of. My car for example got special "individual" stereo and color choice. Radar cruise control which most people havent heard of was availible in an old e9x 3 series etc. I know there was a guy who brought his own wood pieces from a tree he cut down to BMW so they could make the interior trim pieces out of it for his M6, for a cost of something like 30k USD... Yeah its pretty wild. But I see what you meant, fair enough! Cheers mate.
