I remembered telling my mother after I graduated that I wanted to get into voice acting and traveling overseas for work and man if you only knew how much she and all my old "friends" had nothing but pushback and disapproval for me wanting to reach for something else out there and cue to the future, I moved on, but everyone in my old town either remained completely the same or stuck with kids or the same dead end job with no hope. Crabs in a bucket is bad these days and the worst part is it gets stronger the closer your old friends and family were towards you.
