@mjxw but GB did ally with the foremost European power in contradiction to your assertion, and were indeed the poor relation of the French when it came to the fighting.

@peterthomson4632 quite so, and you can then add other aspects of post Bismarkian Germany, with the Kaiser sticking his oar in, looking for his 'place in the sun', and generally chesting up to France, Russia, and the UK. A rotter.
