  2. Interesting, and I wasn't surprised when they found it didn't really work. I was interested by the thought that planes couldn't climb quick enough to intercept the Luftwaffe, when the Dowding system had proved itself so well already, putting interceptors in the right place at the right time with height advantage. Double the lift, double the drag? NB was the P marking for 'Prototype'?

  3.  @EdNashsMilitaryMatters  true, I also suppose there's a good history of ideas thayt shouldn't really have worked but did! NB - still got my Bentley Priory museum sticker on my jacker from last month - great place to visit!
