  2.  @colinkelly5420  this is a very good point that is far too often overlooked; it would be interesting to see the same casualty figure statistics for the German army in Normandy for instance, and to punt up a guesstimate for the actual lethality of the PBI's rifles and squad level LMGs. There's another side issue - that if you're relying more and more on poorly trained troops then whatever gain you might get from a more advanced battle rifle is further minimised if they are not fit to fight in all senses of that phrase?
