Same for me too in the CCF except we never had any 9mm weaponry full stop. We did have one SF kit for the Bren though! I can tell you now WARPAC wargames for the invasion of the UK always steered away from grammar schools ;-)

@ajaxribaldo bless the nerdology! And AFAIK, none of the post war upfettlements went back to the drum sight, so (if Ian agrees) it's pretty likely that drum sighted BRENs will be the first generation of the thing?

@BleedingUranium I agree - but having handled a .303 and a 7.62 version, the bits that matter still impress me in my memory with their weird magic of looking beautiful, sliding in mysterious but meaningful ways, the different colours of their metals.... the best bipod I have ever used, and the lovely way they go pop pop pop and send the bullets where I wished them to go. I am very biased, but they are works of art in my British eyes. And no, I really couldn't get as turned on by a STEN.

Ian, you mention the cuts and stuff needed for Mk I - which was a lot of big numbers - have you any data for what it was reduced to in the modified Mk I and then the Mk II please?
