Thank you Ian; we have just completed a small one week tour of many RAF stations/museums and possibly have seen more RAF Brownings this week than I have ever seen - wing guns, turret guns and pintle guns.   2. Isn't hindsight wonderful? As is the question: well what should they have used instead based on the power to weight ratio of the time, and what was actually able to fit in the wings of fighters at the time?
