The judge pausing the trial is part of the normal process when the supreme court get's involved, the SC ordered Trumps people to reply by next week

@jackwells1452 they will disappoint. They disappointed by agreeing to hear the case before it was heard by an appeals court. They'll rule against trump
5
the actually refer to all former presidents as "former", unless they're one term presidents in which case they just use their name for the most part
4
and nowhere in the constitution does it say president's have total immunity. May as well have stayed in the monarchy if that were the case
4
they'll agree with jack smith
4
They will probably still get their march 4 trial date
4
@joeperkins4309 if president's do have total immunity that makes them kings
3
@jenniferandrews8449 Deal with what? The supreme court agreed to hear Trump's immunity claim before it was heard by an appeals court, this means jack smith got what he wanted and will keep his march trial date
3
like last time?
3
The Supreme court are probably rule against Trump tho since they just ruled against 2A
2
How did he overstep his authority? Trump skipped to the supreme court often during his precedency
2
@patrickgallo9314 the point is it doesn't matter if you vote for him, your vote doesn't count more than the independents and suburbanites who won't vote for a convict just because you're more passionate
2
@notnek202 Nah, when this immunity questions gets settled, they'll move on to double jeoperdy and that's about it for all the potentially trial date altering motions
2
@TheRedConstituents. no way the supreme court rules presidents have total immunity sadly
2
cant pardon state crimes sadly
1
i don't think any dems are likely to try a coup
1
whats funny?
1
Then why did they order Trump to respond so quickly? They could've ignored it. They plan on jumping over the appeals court
1
if they rule that presidents have total immunity that would be corruption to be honest
1
they were saying the walls are closing for impeachment, not for criminal punishment. You can't arrest a sitting president
1
what goal post was moved i never got that part
1
Not true, Mitch Mconnel even said that Trump's conduct on jan 6 should be handled criminally, not politically and that's why he voted no on expulsion
1
@margaretstutts4362 He was held not guilty in a political setting, not a criminal one. Wait, do you think impeachments are real trials and part of the criminal justice system? Wow, that shows a tremendous lack of understanding. Impeachment and removal only decides whether someone must leave office, not whether they committed a came
1
politically not criminally
1
she wasn't fuming because this is part of the process
1
we're more energy self sufficient now than there was under trump
1
@libertyresearch-iu4fy i dunno, he could go down as the only man every to convict a former president. That comes with a lot of plaudits
1
The DC carter doesn't have immunity either, no basis for it in law
1
no they weren't, it's not even clear that a president can pardon himself
1
didn trump run on locking up his political opponents?
1
@Time4Project2025 i believe there's more to these investigations than what he said at the riot, there was the fake electors scheme, the plot to steal voting machines, the pressuring of secretaries of state to "find votes" after the election and so on
1
no precedent has been set. They just paused the case until trump's team replys to the supreme courts notice, they'll likely keep the trial date
1
@SteveSega the presidential records act is a different case, this is for the jan 6 stuff. But i don't think the presidential records act will help trump in the documents case either because that law was supposed to stop the president from holding onto classified docs, not let him do it
1
trump has a lot of sady connections to china himself
1
@ZenThruAnger you don't think it's shady that Trump had a secret bank account in China? Or that his daughter was given her trade marks there in record time? Or that he was showing our nations secrets to an agent of China who happens to be the head of his superpac?
1
no way they rule that presidents are kings
1
but he can't serve behind bars, he'll be hit with the 25th. And he can't pardon himself on state crimes either
1
@Time4Project2025 nothing in the constitution says presidents have total immunity. That would defeat the purpose of breaking away from Monarchy in the first place
1
?
1
No it doesn't. The supreme course agreed to hear the case about Trump's immunity before the appeals court got a chance to look at it. That only speeds up the timeline for the trial
1
they'll do nothing
1
they arent crushing the plans, they ordered trump tpo reply
1
They're not fast tracking the trial, just trying to remain on schedule. Once a trial date is selected, it's the prosecutors role to keep to it
1
the case was always going to be paused while they wait for trump's response. It's part of the process, not a win for either side
1
@Morningv0dka If i was Trumps lawyer i'd try to get the trial done as soon as possible and campaign on the inevitable exhumation
1
@TheRedConstituents. they won't, i don't see them putting the precedency above their own office
1
@TheRedConstituents. yes
1
shouldn't trump want a rush to judgement if he's innocent?
1
how is it against the constitution?
1
they;re not going to declare that president's have total immunity
1
