republicans would get wiped out if you added all those hurdles. The R base is overwhelmingly uneducated
2
prove theyre faulty first
1
there are other ways to confirm someones identity, it can be done when they register
1
maybe you're just not that popular.
1
wont change anything, doesn't matter how you package an unpopular platform
1
you have a serious problem if you lose when people are able to vote conveniently
1
is it because the more people vote the worse republicans do
1
whats so good about the republican partY?
1
remember when republicans cared about the constitution
1
ballot harvesting is not a big factor at all, and mail allots can't be used by republicans because they're always more motivated. A dem who receives a mail ballot would likely have not voted at all otherwise
1
i'm old enough to remember when you republicans respected the constitution
1
you'd get crushed, just like last time
1
then there is no solution
1
how would republicans help their financial burden? By pushing more neoliberlism and trickle down economics?
1
mcconel would've been leader either way. That guy pretty much is the senate
1
the fact you can't vote your way out of tyranny is proof that dems aren't tyrants, since you clearly can vote them out. Hence Trump winning in 2016, Youngkin winning in 21 and Republicans taking the house
1
Going to war because you're salty about losing an election 😅 Remember when republicans were seen as the mature ones?
1
There really isn't such a thing as a low information voter, as long as you know what the two parties stand for, that's all the information you need. Low enthusiasm doesn't mean low information, it just means you're disillusioned with the political system or too preoccupied to go in person. The uncomfortable reality is, there are simply way more dems out there than republicans. This is a center left country. Dems are typically less likely to be enthusiastic enough to vote, which is why mail ballots are so powerful for them. It's not something republicans can just replicate. Republicans rely on these low enthusiasm democrats to stay home, that's why you and other conservatives are so against convenient voting methods like mail and early voting.
1
that would ensure dems win by landslide
1
@bpeter4397 The only issue is you haven't proven elections are hopelessly corrupt. Evidence doesn't care about your feelings
1
they were dismissed for lack of evidence
1
the shhit comes from gop leadership
1
because most people live in blue areas
1
the young are plenty informed. They know republicans don't care about the planet they'll inherit, they don't care about the student loan plight or the housing affordability crisis
1
where'd you hear that rubbish?
1
didn't y'all say that in 2020? And Trump is definitely screwed in 24. You don't lose Michigan and PA that badly and then win them in 2 years. Trump needs those states and he simply has no path to getting them
1
@taekwondotime The main problem is that it would be deeply unconstitutional. Besides, There really isn't such a thing as a low information voter, as long as you know what the two parties stand for, that's all the information you need. Low enthusiasm doesn't mean low information, it just means you're disillusioned with the political system or too preoccupied to go in person.
1
if you can't vote your way out, it means your party is not viable. It needs to adapt or die
1
the tyranny of a democracy 😅 Listen to yourself
1
we are
1
Republicans states have more crime per capita Republicans states have more poverty Republicans are the ones getting rid of the right to protest, going after the right to vote, The right to read history books, the right to stop feds entering you home without a warrant etc
1
ballot harvesting is a cope
1
same happens on the other side. Both party voters only care about getting their team the victory. It's not about candidates. Unemployment was double digits under trump and we were in the middle of the deepest recession since the great depression and trump still got 70 million votes. They'll say covid wasn't trumps fault, but dems will say inflation isn't biden's fault either.
1
@Sephiroth517 And who exactly will you go to war with? your local police department? State troopers? US military? Neighbor? Calling for violence because you're salty you lost an election is very childish
1
@slob1105 He's mostly right. The rural areas have people too, but it's no way near the cities and suburbs in the blue specs. LA county alone has more people than every red state except florida and texas
1
compulsory voting would destroy republicans. They lose when turn out is high
1
you're not a native texan, your people came from Europe
1
how would it let them take over the country?
1
They realize that the only solutions republicans have is giving more tax cuts to rich corporations and trying to take peoples social security
1
that would mean more people voting, which is bad for republicans
1
im sure people would be willing to give the right answer to a right wing nutjob at their doorstep
1
the problem is, republican policy positions just aren't popular. So "calmly articulating" their positions will just get them to lose harder. They're better off pushing the culture wars and moral panics, look at how well it worked for younkin and desantis
1
that makes no sense, there are plenty of safeguards to prevent cheating. It's not about whether one side is willing to cheat, it's about whether they can
1
this aint socialism dummy
1
isn't that what happened under fdr? that was the most propserous time in us history
1
They don't care about all that, they just know the do worse the more people vote so they're distancing themselves from the concept of democracy as a whole
1
votes would be counted a lot sooner if republicans allowed the pre procession of mail ballots, but they don't
1
you don't deserve your social security or medicare
1
this aint a true democracy, this is a representative democracy
