housing shortage casues affordable housing shortage
14
lower mortgages means more people will be willing to sell
4
@sarikagoode1505 only if they decide to save in cash, which is ridiculous. People who save invest their money
3
this guy is seeing prices drop due to supply chains recovering and claiming we'll get deflation
3
these are old numbers
2
dont get your hopes up, deflation aint happening any time soon
2
That aint happening, demand will remain elevated due to interest payments
2
not if inflation keeps coming in so low
1
be specific oh wise one, when?
1
lowering rates will reduce inflation, especially in housing
1
@asclepiushermestrismegistu7489 that would be a problem in a pre fiat economy
1
@Mark-gp3cc so what? the government pays for the interest by pressing a button a keyboard. When you make the money, you don't need to worry about paying bills
1
what are your thoughts on a land value tax? instead of taxing your property as a whole, you're only taxed based on the value of the land its sitting on
1
@jaxntax5509 thats why a land value tax is different, you are no longer taxes for any structures or improvements, only the underlying land. So you could build a massive mansion and pay no taxes on it
1
@jaxntax5509 land value taxes could eventually replace most other forms of taxes
1
whats wrong with japan?
1
deflation is a pipe dream
1
this is why im glad harris is proposing more taxes on these elite sucmbags
1
nah they'll cut by march if inflation continues to come in as low as it's been coming in for the past 6 months, and i can only see that happening since theres a lot of disinflation baked in with rents
1
inflation outside rent is below 2%
1
That's why im happy Harris is proposing more taxes on these elite scumbags
1
@jarvisaddison8560 She was a big supporter of the IRA which involved higher taxes on the elites. Your claim that she's owned by blackrock is nonsense, take your partisan goggles off
1
@jarvisaddison8560 she was the was the tie breaking vote for the IRA, which increased taxes on the biggest corporations. Take off your partisan goggles
1
@nathanstjohn2920 yeah, but its year over year ending last april
1
@nathanstjohn2920 unemployment wont sky rocket due to those numbers like you claimed
1
@nathanstjohn2920 it aint the fed, and if you're not accepting official numbers this whole conversation is pointless
1
but it doesn't take much to set the snowball falling down the hill
1
@pdubyaz it depends on how you phrase it, because of the way tokens are structured
1
thats why deficit spending is good
1
it is if your tribe are democrats. They're the only ones who seem to understand the governments unique ability to support full employment
1
better that it be government debt than private debt. Private debt build up always leads to collapse
1
@KBroly government can always by its own debt, or stop offering debt all together
1
@KBroly qe is an asset swap, its not inflationary
1
@jonathantaylor6926 That's kind of already what the government does. The money used to buy government bonds comes from the governments own deficit spending
1
@ardithbarbosa4877 it won't be disasterous to lower rates because supply chains are back to normal. Bussinesses wil leasily abosorb any extra demand, and stave off a recession
1
this is because they got exposed by Last Week Tonight
1
@jc4evur661 the point is nonsensical, deflation is a pipe dream
