Also most of the current inflation is being driven by housing shortages, the war in Europe, disrupted global supply chains and abuse of market power. That last one is a particularly big contributor because last year saw the single largest increase in mark up's ever. The republican plan of stopping this inflation by taking my social security and raising the retirement age will fail miserably

  5.  @jerrywhidby.  Republicans certainly do want to take our social security and raise the retirement age to 70, it's right there in McCarthy's "contract with america". You clearly have very little understanding of economics or government spending. You probably think the national debt is like your private debt. That isn't true at all, the government debt is simply a record of all the money that has ever bee spent into the economy that hasn't been taxed out, and the active portion of it exists in the form of US Treasuries. And current inflation is not due to a devaluation of our currency, it is being driven mostly by inflationary pressures in specific sectors, factors related to global supply chains as well as abuse of market power by price setter. The main driver of core inflation right now is rents, and that's due to decades of anemic housing production. Look around, inflation is global, and due primarily to global factors. Democrats had the house since 2018, yet inflation didn't start accelerating until 2021, i wonder what changed.
