It's not just about which party was in power though, that's a very simplistic way of looking at things. Trump was in power when the deep covid recession happened, does that mean we should blame him?

They don't build much housing in Cali. This causes rents to go through the roof and people end up living on the streets

@Mikegastaldo Even if no one came in, they're not building housing adequate for the people who already live there. Im sure Austin has the same number of "ponchos" coming in, yet they're seeing some of the sharpest rent declines in the country, because they actually build housing

you can't expect them to make current decisions based on future reports. Doesn't really make sense. At the time, the unemployment rate was rising quickly

@jjms79 they don't need to lower anything. The fed processes over a quadrillion payments a year, they have no trouble servicing the debt since it comes due in US dollars, and they make the stuff

Inflation won't increase meaningfully any time soon, unless something like ww3 happens. It only spiked after covid because covid was a black swan event. Low rates doesn't = inflation, we saw that for the entire decade prior to covid
