His voters were so focused on woke they didn't notice they were going broke

Imagine seeing your taxes go up by over a billion while the richest corporations in your state see billions in tax cuts and still thinking, "yeah, this is great"

It always baffles me how a non rich person could ever consider voting for the GOP

This really is the most pro union environment we've had in decades, fostered by the most pro union administration we've had in my lifetime

Rural Americans hate these voucher programs because unlike rich conservative suburbanites, they can't afford private school

@DevinParker speaking of neoliberal propaganda, im currently reading The Big Myth by Naomi Oreskes and it really is fascinating how the plutocrats have lumped themselves in with core American ideals like freedom and democracy. They took freedom and democracy, added "free enterprise" and called it the "tripod of freedoms". Funnily enough, even the term free enterprise is a bit of a con, since it was originally "private enterprise"

@wafflecone_wombatdrone sales tax among others
34
I thought he'd be another bill clinton but he's actually been the most progressive president in my lifetime on unions, student debt and fiscal policy
17
@WanderingExistence That would be enough to make me not vote for him if his opponent wasn't far worse in that respect. Going as far as to threaten deportation just for supporting palastine
17
@Tintdee lol
12
How sway?
9
i was just watching a video about land value taxes, kinda crazy there are ocean landlords too
9
sadly a lot of red states noticed that and made it a lot harder to get ballot initiatives passed
8
make sure to vote for the liberal supreme court judge in the up coming race so she can fix your maps and you can have representation again
8
southern strategy

That's why a strong welfare state is the only way to eradicate poverty within a capitalist system. You mostly only earn money through wages, and half the population is either too young, old or disabled to work. That's why they need to be supported through government transfers
6
@rajashashankgutta4334 Not how it works in practice
6
@SayChristIsLord444 Dems and republicans are not even close to being the same. Try again
5
An_Equal Ok grandma, lets get you to bed
5
if you're getting the benefits you should chip in
5
Hopefully Feinstein is replaced by Katie Porter!
5
An_Equal stopped reading your comment after you said school lunch is sponsored by corporations. You're not a serious person
4
@SayChristIsLord444 look deeper at what? One party exists only to serve the elite, the other doesn't. Those who claim they're the same should never be taken seriously
4
@andreag8666 people are leaving cali because of the home prices, florida isn't too dar behind in that department
4
thats a gop stronghold, never gonna happen
3
Every American should read Dark Money by Jane Mayer. Eye opening book about Koch (and other) billionaire influence on American politics
3
isn't there enough competition already? there are a gazillion different plans and providers. The insurance based system is more costly and delivers worse health outcomes than a universal system
3
with republicans in charge? lol
3
paying both is fine, but too much privatization and consolidation is terrible for everyone but the elite
3
@par3me The US is a democracy lol also if you're getting the benefits of a union, why shouldn't you chip in?
2
@par3me The two are not mutually exclusive lol, you can be both a constitutional republic and a democracy. They're not forced to go with anything, but if you're benefiting from union negotiated contracts, you should chip in
2
@MichaelBurkhalter their main problem is that they have strict zoning laws that make housing incredibly expensive, but that isn't a blue city only phenomenon, Republicans push these strict zoning laws too
2
An_Equal raising the minimum wage doesn't eliminate competition, that's a big corporation talking point
2
@@Ilovejoebidenforever other kinds of taxes exist kid
2
@pierregravel-primeau702 hahah so true
2
@TheSetherbee If the union is not needed, you should be paying more to the union, not less. The union dues do not fully offset the wage gain they negotiated,. Go ahead and pay the rest and you'll be back to your non union salary
2
@TheSetherbee you're not being forced to join a union, and you're not even technically paying dues, they'd just be collecting their money. For all intents and purposes, you'll be unaffiliated, making exactly what you'd be making toughing it out on your own
2
repealing right to work is the pro worker position
2
@fearlesscaper inflation is much worse in florida than the rest of the country
2
Down with landlords
2
no one is forcing you to join a union
2
you were wrong, they got rid of "right to work" and returned prevailing wage
1
@rolffriis5149 they were planning on striking over sick leave, which Biden worker behind the scenes to get them. The unions gave him the credit
1
@JonathanB138 ok buddy 👍
1
@MrYFM2 the gop is ant worker and anti union, why would they ever support getting rid of right to work?
1
@DMH52 A progressive tax code is in the best interest of the not rich, and that's what democrats push. Republicans want extremely regressive tax codes like flat taxes that constitute tax increases for the working and middle class while massively reducing taxes on the elite. As for regulations, you've gotta be more specific. Which regulation? If we're talking regulations like strict zoning, then im with you along with many dems. Especially since, there's a lot of evidence which suggests that affordable housing, not low taxes on the rich, is the main driver of growth in the rest of the Sun Belt
1
@CharlesGriffinJr yes.
1
@manbearcannon1250 look at the legislation democrats pass when they get trifectas. It's not even close. Look at Bidens NLRB compared to Trump's, not even close.
1
@kimberlygarrett1485 yeah more billionaires back the tax the rich party, ok buddy
