Pretty funny that the CBO reported more poor people would get help under Mccarthy deal and republicans jumped up to deny those claims. Like "Hell no we're not helping poor people, how dare you make such nasty accusations"

Fun fact, leggo bricks outperform gold as an investment
83
He was elected
22
That's why we need a federal jobs guarantee, it would set a real minimum wage. The current minimum wage does not apply to many disabled workers, and of course the minimum wage for an unemployed person is $0
21
@1massboy its not out of the question theyve been here all along. They could be from an adjacent dimension for all we know
14
He doesn't give tax cuts to rich people enough for u?
10
republicans say it's bad for business. Which is of course what they said about weekends and the 8 hour work day
9
Yeah I was reading today about how screwed our global food system is
9
Not having debates isn't rigging, no president debates primary challengers
8
didn't the study say employment went up?
7
Whistblowers is legit too. Super high security clearance, and he's represented by a former inspector general. The current inspector general says his claims are credible and urgent
7
@ThePoliticrat the gold standard was terrible tho
6
@ELTEAESS you don't think we should have a strong social safety net?
5
Don't know how anyone can be a conservative after reading the deficit myth
5
A guy on twitter fleeced a crypto guy for 500k on a hyperinflation bet a while back lol
5
You get what you vote for
4
They're fighting against racism, media perpetuated misunderstandings about the nature of government debt, untold amounts of dark money and a form of government structured to favor the minority. Its not all smooth sailing, but it won't be long before texas flips. We have the math on our side
4
Let's go, he'll cost dems fewer votes
4
This is the only time I agree with her. Tbise extra hours of training don't help much
4
not true, the stimulus money is long gone. Inflation has been due to disrupted supply chains from covid, they've recovered now and we're seeing inflation come down rapidly
3
@jacobunderwood4957 that kind of sums up conservatives in a nutshell. They don't want to spend money solving an immediate problem, and end up spending much more money in the long term. It's the same with homelessness and climate change
3
fiat is more real than gold
3
I like marianne but she knows she's not winning a primary, which leads me to believe the only reason for her candidacy is to weaken Biden
3
@david.stachon that goes without saying. But this is a foot in the door, and should be taken very seriously
3
Wtf so that means the Supreme Court handed Republicans the house
3
Didn't know we were giving crazy people security clearance high enough to brief presidents and see thousands of special access programs
2
prices and value are different tho. You can be paid a lot without creating much value at all
2
@gregorchard7881 second hand leggos
2
but any number of things could take away your ability to care for a kid in this corporatized world we live in. Hell you could be bankrupted for seeing a doctor once
2
Yall following the debrief article about aliens actually existing? Wtf
2
whose fab?
2
Its funny how offended Republicans get when you refer to this country as a democracy. Theyll blurt out that we're a republic as if the two are mutually exclusive all because they're unpopular af
2
@t221000 Judging by this guys other comments, he is a rightwinger lol No wonder he likes Dore
2
@ELTEAESS maybe delete your previous comments if you're going to pretend to be on the left. You should be a lot better at grifting considering your'e a dore fan
2
It's all tyranny this and we the people that until they lose a bunch of elections and then they immediately call for a dictatorship 😆
2
He'll go to madrid, Saudi will always be there
2
@andreseh87 thats an opinion. Bottom line is congress must pursue
2
@StaticCollapse weakening Biden doesn't help the left in my opinion
2
@jackied962 We've also done tonnes of deficit spending for decades with on resulting inflation either. Inflation was caused by a variety of things, mainly the disruption of global supply chains due to covid, but also due to corporate mark-ups. 2021 was a record for mark ups. Thankfully supply chains have recovered, and inflation has been falling sharply as a result.
2
great
2
Argentina is not monetarily sovereign like the US or Japan
2
no, taxes are necessary to provide the services and infrastructure to support the working class. On the state level at least
1
Prices don't determine value. A sports star is not more valuable than a doctor, but they get paid a lot more
1
@miguelbruno-vd8yz No the free market determines prices not value. People are paid handsomely for watching the stock of monster energy drink all day
1
@miguelbruno-vd8yz Sure, but value is not determined by the price of someones labor
1
@holden6104 Nah, inflation happens when the spending exceeds the productive capacity of the economy. Thankfully global supply chains have finally recovered from covid, and now we're seeing inflation come down rapidly despite the fact we're still printing a lot
1
@NM-qd3tm If people still have check from 2 years ago, it's being saved. And inflation over the past 6 months has been very low, in fact it's almost back down to the fed target of 2%. This is almost entirely due to recovered supply chains and untied bottlenecks
1
@NM-qd3tm 6.5% over the year sure, but i said look at the inflation rate over the last 6 months. Inflation started plummeting in the second half of last year, right in line with the supply chains recovering
1
why did employment go up then?
1
@robertjacobs7223 People are poor for a variety of reasons, lack off opportunities, maybe they got sick once and got bankrupted by the medical costs, injuries at work, the housing shortage causing massive rents etc
