  1. Surely you don't think all of the sudden there was a civil war over land, in 1861? If so where is the evidence? The tension between slavery and freedom was building for years. In 1820, amid growing sectional tensions over the issue of SLAVERY, the U.S. Congress passed a law that admitted Missouri to the Union as a slave state and Maine as a free state, while banning slavery from the remaining Louisiana Purchase lands located north of the 36º 30' parallel. The Compromise of 1850 was package of five separate bills passed by the United States Congress in September 1850 that defused a political confrontation between slave and free states on the status of territories acquired in the Mexican–American War. The Republicans were started to stop the expansion of slavery. When Lincoln was elected as the first Republican the Confederate Democrats (Rebels) felt threatened and the need to secede and fight for SLAVERY.

  2. Re-read my comments  @aaronw8310  Slavery was the only reason for the civil war. Study the compromise acts of 1820 and 1850. Thanks for your agreement.
