A total of 1,271 new COVID-19 hospitalizations (0.17 per 100,000 person-days) occurred among fully vaccinated adults, compared with 7,308 (2.03 per 100,000 person-days) among unvaccinated adults (Table). Hospitalization rates generally declined through the week of July 5, but increased the weeks of July 12 and July 19, and were higher among fully vaccinated and unvaccinated persons aged ≥65 years compared with younger age groups (Figure 2). Age group–specific estimated VE against hospitalization remained stable, ranging from 90.8% to 97.5% for persons aged 18–49 years, from 92.4% to 97.0% for persons aged 50–64 years, and from 92.3% to 96.1% for persons aged ≥65 years. During May 3–July 25, the overall, age-adjusted VE against hospitalization was generally stable from 91.9% to 95.3% (Figure 2) (Table).
