  1. It favours Ukraine if Ukraine continues to receive Western support, because the West has the industrial and economic capacity to keep it up longer than Russia. Russia's economy is the size of Italy's. They can ramp up production, sure, but they can't possibly replace the Soviet stockpiles they're burning though. Russia doesn't have the industrial capacity of the Soviet Union. So they'll have a very hard time maintaining pressure on the front and building up for a big offensive as the war continues.

  2. Russia's economy is the size of Italy's. The only reason they have any chance at all in this confrontation is because NATO would prefer not to spend too much money or get directly involved.

  3. If Ukraine's Western allies had been ready day 1, the war would have been over pretty quickly. But it took people a while to understand that Russia's initial invasion was going to fail, and so they waited (thinking "what's the point of antagonizing Russia by arming Ukraine, if Ukraine is going to fall a week from now?").
