  1. You don't have to have a good character for a story to be enjoyable. There are plenty of genres with specifically evil guys as protagonists. And not like dead pool or batman I mean genuinely evil and calculating. There is an entire genre of it called Immortal demon cultivators in chinese light novels. They are well writen and it is interesting to read how they manipulate people and pull on strings.
