Once you know the commands, yes. The litmus is, can an experienced driver jump in the car for the first time and safely drive it within three minutes ?

@DwaynePipes — I would gladly bet you that you have a family member that, as a licensed driver that has never driven or ridden in a Tesla, would not be able to hope in a Tesla or a Polestar and operate it safely (including cruise, wipers, turn signals, and HVAC system) within three minutes.

@DwaynePipes — Only me? Are you blind? Look at all the posts on this thread — 98% of them saying this touchscreen idea (non haptic) for automotive applications is crap. Three minutes: maximum time 90% of rental customers spend with car before driving off …

@DwaynePipes — Yeah, I see most people are thinking this is an EV-only issue, when several manufacturers have put out some real stinkers on their petrol vehicles as well. The reason most think EV is because most think of Tesla, and understandably so. And some things they do seem foolish. One that’s particularly stupid is (on Model 3) being unable to pop the bonnet to service the 12-volt battery if that battery is dead. It defies all logic. I guess the eventuality never occurred to designers, or they would have had key locks to either enter the bonnet and/or cabin, and a simple cable pull to pop the bonnet.

No … You can’t physically feel a “button” on a touchscreen as you can with a mechanical button or switch.

@DwaynePipes — And wouldn’t it be great fun for passengers to prank the driver by turning on the wipers on a bright sunny day, turning down the driver’s a/c on a scorching hot day, turning the high beams off and on just for the hell of it … Just a good time all around. Teens will love it !!

@DwaynePipes — If it’s teens doing it to teens, it could easily go on long enough to be dangerous …
