@Scroll_Lock — People who commute 100 miles to work don’t buy an EV. Soccer moms in small towns do buy EV’s. Plumbers, electricians, construction contractors, and ranchers don’t buy EV’s. I have no idea who’s buying EV trucks. I can’t figure out a good use for them, yet.

That’s why they’re called sheeple …

Sounds nasty …

Why are you driving an EV work van in the first place ?

The 15-minute city is a failed notion already. All they are is modern-day ghettoes, and nobody wants that !

Queuing to pay ? Which African country are you from ?

Shut up … Don’t give those fools any more ideas. BTW, the planet doesn’t need saving …

Big difference! In the eyes of the governments: Diesel Bad; EV Good …

A VW Passat diesel was one of my favorite road cars …

Those old VW Passats would go over 700 miles on a tank. That was a nice traveling-car !

MGUY, if I were buying an EV, it would be as a grocery-getter second car for the wife. For my purpose, I wouldn’t care about headwinds, mountains and temperatures. The only reason I don’t have one already is that I’m not going to buy a $10k USD car that I might well have to install a 10k USD battery in the next few years. BUT, when battery tech improves, and prices come down, then yeah, a BEV might have many advantages for specific applications.

@robertkubrick3738 — I’m the king of reliable ICE. I drive a ‘91 Eclipse (4G63) and my wife has a 2000 Buick Regal (3800). As I posted, I would only buy an EV (for the wife) if it is in the $10k range, and given that replacement batteries are a reasonable cost. These EV buyers don’t take into account that when old ICE cars that most engine problems can be fixed in expensively. Even major problems can typically be repaired far more cheaply than a battery replacement on an EV. But that will likely change as tech advances.

When we have an entire continent of idiots actually considering killing off cattle to lower GHG emissions, you know the bloody world has gone bonkers !!

MGUY, you’re downplaying the effects of temperature and [relative] wind on ALL vehicles. Dense air kills fuel mileage (at speed) because of increased drag. The reason we bother to fly jetliners at altitudes that require complex (and expensive) pressurization systems is because IT’S WORTH IT because of the improved fuel “mileage” and range. Are EV’s more adversely affected by cold, dense air than ICEV’s? Yep … But don’t make it sound like ICE vehicles are immune to the effects of drag.
