  1. In my parent’s declining years, we looked into these “assisted living” places for them. After visiting a few, I found it difficult to even go inside one of them. Utterly depressing, they were. They were like prisons in my eyes — even the nice ones. Thankfully, neither ever went into one. Now I’m old, and I have no intention of ever going into one of those joints. If I have anything to say about it, I’ll live out my final years in my own house, eating my own food, attending to my own needs — and living by my own schedule. Edit: #6
