@ViburaBlanca we are fundamentally socialist. We have socialism for the wealthy thru government subsidies and pull yourself by your own bootstraps capitalism for the poor

@ViburaBlanca between 1948 and 1973 the US government made the biggest investments in infrastructure, housing, science ,farmland and education to ever occur in human history and the middle class thrived like no other time in human history. Somehow the conservatives convinced you this was bad and told you it would be better to give money to private corporations and the benefits will trickle down to you .

@ViburaBlanca government subsidies are a form of socialism any way you cut it . Your argument seems to be if the government isn’t totally and completely socialist then it’s not socialism .

@bevonostro................ Governor Abbott is in South Korea on a trade mission

@jimmynguyen5404 government subsidies are socialism

@ViburaBlanca corruption has nothing to do with it and it’s not happening behind closed doors it’s all done out in the open . You are making the argument that because it’s not total and complete Socialism it’s not Socialism and that’s just not true . Anytime the government funds private businesses that’s socialism in a Capitalist society we would allow those businesses to fail . Elon Musk has received billions in government subsidies and thats socialism for the wealthy . It’s been happening in this country for decades .
1
@ViburaBlanca you are precisely making my point for me . We don’t live in a society that has fundamental socialism we live in a society that has socialism for a very select few .
1
@ViburaBlanca then what do you call it when Tesla gets one billion dollars in government subsidies? The only people advocating for socialism are wealthy corporations who hire thousands of lobbyists to petition congress to give them money . Any notion of liberal economic policy ended in this country in 1981 . In 1981 the government ended demand side economic policy and began supply side economic policy telling us the benifits will trickle down . We’ve never looked back from supple side economic policy the government no longer invests in people or infrastructure we invest in corporations.
1
@ViburaBlanca once again nobody is arguing that our government is entirely socialist. There is a socialist aspect to our government subsidizing private corporations . Is there some reason you keep repeating this? Nobody is saying that the massive investments the government made between 1948-1973 were socialist. The government invested in people and infrastructure conservatives convinced you this was socialism which it isn’t and your tax dollars would be better spent given away to private corporations.
1
@ViburaBlanca you are the one who literally calls any government investment in people or infrastructure socialism . Not me you are literally arguing against yourself . My point is when the government gives the peoples money away to corporations you have no issue in fact you celebrate it . If the government invests in people or infrastructure o well then that’s socialism and inherently bad .
1
@ViburaBlanca we are talking about Texas here and Texans consider publicly funded education socialism which in a sense it is you on the other hand think that unless the government is completely fundamentally socialist then nothing is socialism.

How long will Texas deny global warming?
