All you can do is fight the fire around the edges and get people out which is exactly what happened. The fire department and city should be commended considering the size of these fires and relatively small loss of life .

There is no fire hydrant system in the world that can keep up with the demand of fighting 1000’s of structure fires . Some of these hydrant systems rely on pumps and the electricity was cut off to prevent more fires . As structures fall water mains break taxing demand. This fire is so large and so hot water evaporates before it even hits the ground. Do your research 🧐

When the wind is over 45mph the only thing fire fighters can do is fight the fires on the edges and ensure that people get out . Hydrants can only fight so many fires at once when thousands of structures are burning it’s like fighting a typhoon it’s just not possible . The fact the death toll is under 100 is indicative of the incredible job the fire department and city did in this disaster considering over 9000 structures burned.

They staged 9000 firefighters in prone areas called in 100’s of off duty fire fighters . They did an excellent job considering the conditions.
