I just love these videos. I love the fact that Pewds is certainly getting a ton of people into philosophy, and on good literature in general. I love technology but damn the damage it does to reading skills and our intelligence or wisdom is quite horrible thing.

@coolbroccolie6455 Internet can give you knowledge, but not intelligence. With that knowledge you might enhance your intelligence and also gain wisdom, but these processes come from within. By wisdom I mean true wisdom, not scientific knowledge. And my comment were meant as critique of western cultures, somewhere else Internet might get you for example books that you otherwise couldn't have read. Technologies are tools, so ultimately it's about how you use it.

@zellafae Quick pleasures are what tech causes us to seek. It shows us these pleasures more and more, and it allows us to fulfill them too. And tech creates false reality for us, and that can be dangerous. And it certainly is at least harmful.

@senseishu937 Sure tech has given mankind a lot of positive things. But it certainly has trashed reading and writing in the west at least. The amount of hours people spend by reading has plummeted. The ability to write coherent text has plummeted. Tech consumes our time with mostly useless things as social media ( most of which is absolutely useless ), gaming, porn etc. and thus it deprives us from doing things that actually enhance us. But those that for whatever reason have managed to use tech correctly and in correct amounts have evolved. I'm computer scientist so I kind of love computers and tech. Though I fear it leads to dystopian future, as it gives way too much power to those in control. And I'm not talking about the puppets we call politicians.

@senseishu937 It's well studied fact that technology is the driving force on decline in reading and writing. Technology also changes the culture and these changes are rarely for the better. One example being access to porn, and false reality by social medias that create huge pressure and cause depression. This is quite complex issue with many tentacles. Many things that are not beneficial are awesome. I would say most TV shows and TV in general, most films, majority of online videos, are garbage. But some are great and beneficial. One example being Stanley Kubrick films. There is nothing wrong about entertainment, it just depends on the entertainment. Small amounts of garbage can be great and actually beneficial too. This is one of those topics that rarely produces positive outcomes. I'll try to learn from the topic of this video and be stoic on the fact that I can't change culture. So I think it's better to stop with this topic, but thanks for this small conversation.

@senseishu937 True, I blame the people who push technology to people who are not developed enough to handle them. It's like if dad gives gun to his little son and he accidentally shoots someone, I would blame the dad. With technology I'm in reality blaming the people who control how that tech can be used. But that is such a web of things to unravel that it's best to lead untouched. But I say this, it's not coincidence that we have tech pouring us so much shite. But I'm also happy that tech allows people to gain true knowledge and wisdom. P2P networks are great for that.

@senseishu937 P2P is peer to peer, usually that is used to describe file sharing networks. Those cannot be controlled like the public Internet, and thus you can find all kinds of evidence on all kinds of real conspiracies, secret societies and their esoteric beliefs etc. Why all massive data hoarding tech companies are USA based is not coincidence. But more than tech, the entertainment industry has been doing it's work in controlled manner. I know how this sounds to someone who hears this the first time. That control really happens quite simply, all the important giant corporations have members of these secret societies in their board.
