Social engineering, media brainwashing, and "education system" has made majority of people lazy and dumb. I have really high IQ but I was complete idiot in my early twenties, then certain things happened that forced me to open my eyes and start my deprogramming journey. I think most people feel their programming subconsciously and know subconsciously that the journey of deprogramming is going to be really tough and cause them to essentially lose the world and in most case the people they currently have. So they just follow what is popular and the consensus of opinions. Now it seems that more and more people are feeling so shitty in their current world view that the difficult journey of deprogramming starts to become much easier choice and so many people choose it. And that journey eventually leads to ditching Microsoft, Google as much as possible, Facebook and the likes. For technological people there are many obvious reasons to choose Linux, so many do this while they have not deprogrammed themselves, but the majority of Linux users I know have done it or at least are on the journey. I personally don't like the word elitism. That word is just a tool for people to not put the effort and try Linux as they think Linux is for elites only and the community is full of elitism. Most Linux users just want to help others to take up Linux. It's their best interest also, as more users mean better support. But it's also about altruism, at least for a lot of Linux users.
