@twb0109 Certain people are slaves. But I wouldn't still feel people won't switch. First step is forcing them to install the alternative.
One person I knew pushed Signal to me years ago, and he just totally refused to install anything he considered bad software. People tried to convince him, even kind of threat him, but he just used that as an opportunity to preach us about the dangers and his ideology.
Then I said, I'll install Signal and if there's communication, you can just contact my whatsapp and I pass messages to him. Later one other installed Signal as well.
In couple months I stopped using whatsapp and forced my family to use Signal, and now I refuse to talk if we are not using Signal for that. I only had couple of months with that group, so I don't know what happened with them, but that one dude managed to change my views quite a lot.
I cared about free software, was Linux power user etc. but I really hadn't thought about things well. Then I started watching Stallman's interviews and it hit me completely. Sure I'm not full Stallman, but damn he is so right.
Being the one who tries to change things is not easy. That dude made some sacrifices and many people hated him for not giving in to using whatsapp and other proprietary garbage. But he changed me and one other in small amount of time. And I have since then changed the course of many people.
