  1. We truly needed those Gene episodes to get the sense that Better Call Saul timeline is far back, and also that it isn't Saul anymore also. That's what makes the finale so impactful, without those Gene episodes it would have been so much less effective. Nippy was highly important palette cleansing episode from both Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad timelines.
