  1. Great Wolf : This is a german word, i know this, because i am german. In english language it is a Lehnwort/ loanword. Many languages, including german, use loanwords to describe things, formerly not known in their language and have no own word for this thing.

  2. Sofus : I live in the german Landkreis Esslingen, Esslingen was a Reichsstadt. The capital of Landkreis Reutlingen, Reutlingen was a Reichsstadt. The capital of Landkreis Aalen , Aalen was a Reichstadt etc., etc.. Some of the former Reichsstädte are still important cities, Frankfurt, Nürnberg, Augsburg, but most of them are nowadays no more very important, only capitals of a Landkreis, which would be a county in USA, and some, for example Zell am Harmersbach are today rather small towns.

  3. xway2 : You are right! But these very small teritories had only been ,reichsunmittelbar', this means, they had no seat in the ,Reichstag'. To have a seat in the Reichstag you must have the right to be called a ,Reichsstand'. But to be fair, a number of Reichsstände had to share one seat.
