Cristi_ Energy : I am german, and want to tell you three stories. 1) In the Alsace the people speak french as the offical language, and because it was once a part of germany still now many people can speak also german. Some years ago an alsacian artist/writer spoke about his halfyear living in London. He arrived there with no knowledge of english, but learned it fast. Why? He speaks german, related to old anglosaxon and modern french, related to old french of the normannic conquerors. 2) Some years ago a romanian truck driver arrived at the factory i worked. He could no german, english or russian ( some factory workers could speak russian) so we could only speak with some french and hand signs. 3) When i came to this factory, there was an english coworker. For fun a coworker who could speak lowgerman, which is spoken by the descendants of those anglosaxons who not moved to england, spoke some sentences in low german to the english worker. He looked surprised, but could understand it. A turkish worker heard this and said: Mr. Roberts speaks german, you must not speak english. So the turk thaught, lowgerman is english. Have a good time!
