Luís Andrade : Before 1556 the Reichstag was a ,meeting' of men from all german states ( few women from imperial womens monastries) which happened unregularly and not at the same place. After 1556 the ,immerwährende Reichstag' / continuing Reichstag ' took place at Regensburg, so in my eyes ( i am no academic) it became a kind of Parlament. Now the german Parlament is called Bundestag, while the Bundesrat is a descendend of oldstyle Reichstag, here from every state some members come, depending on population. Same was in ,Weimar Republik' , the Parlament was called Reichstag, and current swedish Parlament is the ,Riksdag'. So medieval Reichstag is different from former Reichstag of Weimar or current Bundestag, in Germany the old word .....tag has changed its meaning, but the word itself is still in use. Also the Parlaments of german federal states / Bundesländer are called Landtag, which was in HRE time also different.
