@kohinarec6580 : Klein means small in english. So you are right, this is in this case a lmited/ reduced licence. The mayor differences are: With a ,kleiner Waffenschein' you can carry only a blankgun ( with german authorities ,PTB' stamp, but this is currently changing for European Union reason) to fire rather weak blanks , ,gascartridges' with CS, pepper cartridges, in some blanks, the gunpowder is mixed with chemicals for either more smoke or a stringer flash of fire. With an ordinary Waffenschein you can carry real pistols for selfdefence . Second difference: A ,kleiner Waffenschein' is easy to get, you usually get it , when you had never been involved in crime or extremism ( Zuverlässigkeit/ relyability). For a real/ full Waffenschein, the authorities proof more carefully, if you have problems with alcohol, drugs, mental problems, and more carefull if you are involved in crime or extremism. ( Zuverlässigkeit), also you have to show, that you have knowledge about weapons, ammunition, safety rules, law etc.. ( Sachkunde) and the most difficult thing is, to show the authorities, that you habe the need ( Bedürfnis) for a pistol. So today i think, most oft owners of a Waffenschein' are security guards.

robert colbourne : In those days french was, in western world, the ,lingua franca'/ international language, it needed some time to replace french with english language. And the , Friedensklasse' of the , Pour le merite', the ,Pour le merite für Wissenschaft und Künste' (for science and art) is the last prussian medal, which is , very rarely today, still sometimes awarded, as far as i know!
