  2.  @MrDogmash  : Formerly Mauser company had a famous collection. Was stolen by french and US soldiers. When you come to Oberndorf am Neckar, and visit Waffenmuseum in last existing Mauser building ( socalled Schwedenbau) it is a shock. The firearms of Heckler & Koch shown are in good condition, also the weapons of olympic competition weapons company Feinwerbau are in good condition, both companies, located in Oberndorf are founded after wwll. But weapons of Mauser company? The stolen collection no more exists, And the shown substitutes? Some weapons are in good or at least acceptable condition, others in bad condition, the wwl Tankgewehr looks like a dugout of the ground and sandblasted. Also few weapons ( including lance tips) produced by forerunner of Mauser company ( Royal Württembergian Arms Manufaktur) are shown. One of first directors of this company was a famous württembergian gunsmith or gunmaker ( in german both is Büchsenmacher). He had allowness to produce in factory civilian firearms under his own name, a pistol made by this man is shown, excellent crafted. Also civilian products of Mauser company are shown. Two cars, bureau machines and measurement Equipment. When i was starting my german style jobtraining in 1982, every young job trainee was proud, to show his Mauser calipher (for gunlaw reason a Mauser rifle is out of reach). With ticket of Waffenmuseum you also can visit Heimatmuseum/ homeregion museum about history of town Oberndorf, showing rusty sword blades and spear tips of alemannic warriors graves. Btw., when you visit Oberndorf in July, you have the posibility to visit Oberndorf Square Dance Special.
