@roskcity : For german grammar reason, there must be a ,s' after Volk . The only exeption i know, without using the ,Duden', a semiofficial german wordbook for correct writing, is Werkschutz, factory(works) protection, which means security guards, being member of the company, which owns the factory, and not from a private security company. Volksturm would be peoples tower, which makes no sense. In current german Sturm means , depending on context, either storm or assault, but in former centuries Landsturm was used to describe a levie of fightable, but not trained men, mobilzed in case of real need. In 19th century/ wwl Landsturm was the name for rearline units of elderly, but trained men, supported by younger trained men, which had been no more frontline able ( for example after being wounded). So the word Volkssturm was not only used for Propaganda reason, similar Landsturm was known for centuries .
