  1. A lot of weapons had been simply scrapped. Some years ago, i am german, in my local newspaper i could read, that construction workers found a lot of destroyed elderly weapons. This had been weapons confiscated from german civilians at the end of war.

  2. This was intended for british occupation police force. Such police forces formed of soldiers had been formerly called Gendarmerie. The few remaining german policemen had been armed either with truncheons or in few cases with rather long dress bayonnets.
