@kj3n569 : 5,6 mm lfB is the old german name for .22lr . lfB means ,lang für Büchsen' - in english ,long rifle'. What i wanted to say, the german engineers and workers of 1945 surely did not use the english name of cartridge.

No , they did not design it in . 22 , but in 5,6 mm lfB ;-) ( lfB lang für Büchsen).

Perhaps you mean ,Military History visualized' and ,Military History not visualized' . The man is austrian.

@kj3n569 : When i, Brittas boyfriend, started to read german arms magazines in 1982, the name 5,6 lfB was common, today no more. This switch to . 22lr started in late 80s and needed some time.

@bmhater1283 : Forgotten! During WW ll the german forces had documents ,Kennblätter für fremdes Gerät'( about: description of foreign equipment ) . Captured weapons got a number and a letter for the country, for example ,f' for french. In this documenta the .45 ACP is listed as 11,5 mm Colt (a).

This would have been 5,6x 35 R Vierling.

@kantenklaus : Heute ja, aber in den 80ern war, auch in deutschsprachigen Waffenfachzeitschriften, 5,6 lfB weitverbreitet.

@bmhater1283 : We have metric measure system since 19th century, and 0,22 inch is ca. 5,6 mm. Also in 19th century few german, austrian or swiss people could speak english, parce que dans cettes anees la langue française etait la langue international ( because french was the international language). And long rifle was simply translated ,lang ( long) für (for) Büchsen ( rifles).

Side note : Alemannen is the name of ONE german tribe, the ancestors of both Swabians and Swiss germans. From french or spanish view, the next german tribe, so one day it was used for all germans.

Years ago, i read in a german arms magazin about a cartridge 5,6 x 35 R Vierling, but i don' t remember, if this was another name for .22 Hornet, or a no more produced german cartridge.

@SamFellerer : You are right. I read english and german Wikipedia. In german Wikipedia : 5,6x 35R auch bekannt als (also known as) .22 Vierling . A Vierling is a combined hunting gun , four barrels ( rifled and smoothbore), breakdown. This guns are rare, and allways custom made by gunsmiths, as the customer wants it.
