machintelligence : The german word ,stutzen' means in english about , to cut'/, to cut down'. About 1700 with ,Stutzen' a short hunting rifle was meant, perhaps the first ones really had been full size rifles, where the barrel(?) was cut at the end of the stock. Today ,Stutzen' simply means a hunting rifle with a stock to the muzzle, they are today a bit shorter than an ordinary rifle, but no more so very short as in former centuries. Attention! In Switzerland ,Stutzer' means a competition/target rifle.

Knut Der Große : Britta is my girlfriend, i also use her account. I know, that in case of weapon and hunting laws, the federalism in the USA is stronger than in my country ( Germany). The weapon law is the same everywhere in Germany, but as far as i know, there a few minor differences in hunting law between the german states. What is not allowed? All kind of shot for nonbirds larger than rabbit, hare and fox. Parforce hunting, hunting with bow, crossbow, spear, pistol or muzzle loaders. Pistols, boarspear, knives or hunting daggers are only allowed to kill wounded animals. For animals larger than , Reh' , for example wild boar and , Hirsch' (deer?) you need calibers with an energy of more than 2000Joule at a distance of 100 or 200 Meter.
