Fritz is short of Friedrich, Heinz is a short of Heinrich, Ulrich is a short of Huldrich, Klaus/ Klaas is a short of Nikolaus, Willi/ Wilhelm, Bernd/ Bernhard, Siggi/ Siegfried, Siegbert, Sieghard, Sigurd, Ekki, Ecki/ Eggebrecht, Eckbert, Eckhard, Ekkehard. So Nazi was simply a short of Ignaz. In wwl Nazi was simply a nickname for austrian soldiers. Note: During wwl the NSDAP did not exist! So in 1920s the use of Nazi changed from , Austrian Soldier' to member of NSDAP. And Ignaz Eisele, an austrian bandleader, was known as Nazi Eisele only for reason of his name.

  2. Robin Schuhmacher : No! Gewehr means in current german language every long firearm, this means rifles ( Büchsen), shotguns ( Flinten) and combined guns ( Büchsflinte, Drilling, Vierling). In former times, before 1800, it could mean also edged weapons. A Seitengewehr is a bayonnet. In documents of about 1750 Obergewehr could mean muskets or polearms, while Untergewehr meant sabers and hangers. Ge means in german language simply ,a lot of'. Gewässer : a lot of water. Gesang: a lot of singing. Geschrei: a lot of shouting. Gelächter: a lot of laughing.. Gesäß (arse): a lot of sitting :-)

  3.  @charliewenthe4411  : Nazi is a short version of Ignaz. This not so common german mens name was in wwl used by german soldiers as a nickname for austrians. So Nazi at first simply meant , austrian', and Hitler was austrian citizen up to 1933.
