@pirig-gal ln Germany we have Pils ( Lager), Pilsener, Export ( Spezial), Hell, Dunkel, Märzen, Kölsch, Alt, Schwarzbier, Bock, Doppelbock, Weizen, Weizenbock, Weizendoppelbock, Gose. In bright, dark, filtrated and unfiltrated. :-)

@pirig-gal : In Germany a supermarket company ,Mix' sells food of eastern Europe, including beer. So i know polish Warka and a polish beer with a Buffalo printed on the paper.

@MrGrimsmith : As a german from swabian region, i don' t like ,prussian' Pils ( Lager), i prefer Export, Hell, Märzen and Bock or Weizen ( wheat beer). In some good drink/ beverage shops you can buy beer from british Islands. The types Stout and Porter are not my taste, but some Ales are good. If you can buy ,Eisbock' try it, it is german equivalent to english barley wine, which is in Germany very rare to buy.

I am a traditional ,Southerner' , Swabian , and i don' t like the in my eyes prussian beer type Pils, so i have to admit, that i don' t know the taste both of ordinary Warsteiner and the never heared Warsteiner dunkel. Also Warsteiner is one of the TV beers, beer brands which produce TV spots, the socalled TV beer companies are not liked by every german. Many germans, like try to feel the spirit of german beer the following way. Travel though Germany, for private or professional reason. At every point, you make a stop, ask for beer, brewed no more than 30km/20 miles. So you get totally unknown beer brands, and often a quality surprise.

@pirig-gal : In Germany we currently have large, midsized and small breweies, some date back into middle age. And in last 10 to 15 years mostly young brewers founded new small breweries. The older companies prefer traditional beer, the new companies ,craft beer'. My opinion: You can get good or bad tasting beer from all kind of breweries, you have to taste beers, until you find one, you like.

@simonh6371 : In Germany we usually call the ,Kingdom of united Netherlands' usually ,Holland', and the language , holländisch', but i think, most people know, that Niederlande and niederländisch would be more correct.

@TheKamperfoelie : Yes, this is an old sailors tale about a terrible capitain, who became a kind of ghost .Among German sailors there are storys about the Klabautermann, a small man , who sometimes appears on ships. Usually this Klabautermann is not dangerous, but he is annoying the sailors with pranks and jokes. But: When a sailor becomes violent or badly cursing against him, you have to fear the Klabautermanns revenge.
