@johnnyearp52 : In Germany there are some German people, which are whites and ethnic Germans, but have darker skin and hair as usual. The reasons are rather simple. West of Rhine and south of border fortifications ,Limes', similar to Hadrians Wall in Scotland, current Germany ( Austria, Switzerland) was part of Roman Empire, some Romans survived the conquest by germannic tribes. In Middleage some italian Traders, clerics, specialist craftsmen remained in , Germany '. During Thirty Years War many Italians, Spainiards and Croats served as mercennaries in catholic troops, some remained in , Germany '. In Baroque/ Rokoko era many French and Italian artsts and specialist craftsmen came to , Germany '. Those French, Italian, Spanish or Croats of old days are the ancestors of those Germans, whose hair and skin is a bit darker.

@atlas567 : The man meant, his father , being of german ancestry, was in Mexico mistaken for a native Mexican, because he doesn' t looks ,german'. In fact, i am german, there are some ethnic Germans who look a bit like Italians or Spainiards from the north of this countries.I think this are the descendants of Italians, French, Spanish or Croats coming to Germany as mercennaries during Thirty Years War , or as specialised craftsmen from Middleage to Rokoko era.

Excuse me, wrong Button! This name is a shortened Diet(e)rich, and it is spoken as a swabian would speak spanish Diaz. Surely coincidence. But don' t underestimate the number of italian craftsmen who came to current Germany when large stonechurches came in favour, or when Renaissance and Baroque reached Germany. Many ruling noblemen, we had Lots of them, wanted new palaces, spiritual Lords ( Princed Bishops, Princed Abbots, in few cases even Princed female Abbots, and the Knights Orders wanted new churches, often also palaces, and even the rich upperclass of Imperial Towns build rather impressive Palais. Then after Thirty Years War many French Protestants came to Germany , not to far away from my Homevillage is a Village with typical german name Perouse! And as a sidenote : I grew up in a then semirural area, as child of aborigine farmers. In those days, i didn' t knew italian food, my parents also not. But i knew traditional swabian food. So i was rather surprised, when i in 1980 for the first time ate Tortellini and Ravioli, was only a tiny Variation of swabian Maultaschen. Italian Pizza? A Variation of swabian Dätscher ( name used in my Village, different in other villages) and italian Pasta? A lot of more complicated versions of the , breite Nudeln' i knew from my mother. A possible reason that the noted italian dishes had been no surprise for me: From 1190s to 1268 swabian Hohenstaufen Dynasty had also been Kings of Naples.

@johnnyearp52 : With a genetic test (DNA) specuations could be proofed. But the fact , that in Spain and Italy germanic tribes had been for some time, and later Germans (including Austrians, which belonged up to 1866 regular to HRE/ German Federation) and Normans ( Nordmänner/ Northmen, romanized Vikings) ruled parts of Italy. So i think, germanic DNA, if such is existing , could appear in Spain or Italy. But : When germanic tribes conquered Italy or Spain, they became the upper class/ Nobility. So i would not be surprised, when in Spain , Italy, May be Portugal and France too, among old Nobility families, the germanic DNA part is a bit Higher than among commoners.
