  1. The political optics trapped Zelenskyy into committing far too long. He did manage to embarrass Putin to the point of getting Kim involved. This is under rated. Going to Kim was NOT what Putin ever imagined doing. It really took him down a notch in dealings with Xi. The latter is now not happy, as Xi thought that he 'owned' Kim. There never was any shot at the NPP -- when Zelenskyy only had ONE brigade to commit. Theorists who assume it was the Big IT need to show their calculations. A Corps ++ would be necessary. Since both sides lie up a storm every day, every analyst is free to spin events, such as they are. The fact that the Ukrainians didn't react to the 'mild penetration' into the woods was a tell that their generals were idiots. One is reminded of OKH standing around for days before dealing with the Korsun situation in early 1944. If you review that history, you'll note the amazing parallels to today's fiasco. Weather was Big then, too. Elsewhere on the front, it's the Kremlin that's on the defensive. We're seeing a Drone War, not a Panzer War. The fact is that both armies have been Bled White. Trump is correct. It's time to come to terms. Putin dares not, he needs a forever war. BTW, Putin and Zelenskyy are corrupt beyond their eyeballs. It's the Slavic way of politics.

  2. The battle front is secondary to the economic front. Trump is systematically gutting the Russian economy -- now that Putin has made his intentions too specific, too public. Top of the list -- Russia can no longer obtain electronic cash from Europe. Putin had been receiving billions of Euros every year via this route. Now even his Stash is at risk. If he could've substituted for Europeans, he would've long done so. (To sell to India was to sell to Europe.) (Putin is at war with the customers who supplied him. What a boner. Adolf did the exact same thing in 1941.) His industrial high tech is based on Germany and France -- not India and China. (PLCs, etc., they do break down.) Putin has been able to get around the sanctions -- as Europe is corrupt, too, using the 'Near Abroad' as a dodge. In the next year, Trump is going to take all of Putin's customers away. Drill, baby, drill!

  3. Nix the over analysis. Neither combatant power wants a ceasefire. That much should be plain. Putin is terrified about sitting down with Trump. Which is exactly why he's trying to nail down victory before he even sits. Trump can't possibly give what Putin needs to survive his folly. Putin has remilitarized NATO. All players are in flux, wondering where Drone Warfare is taking them. Drones now == Tanks in 1917.
