  2. Paul -- Trump is gaming. He is NOT attempting to actually impose tariffs upon Mexico or Canada. Your entire theory of what's at issue is miles off. VDH is the only guy, besides moi, to see that Trump is not engaging in a Trade War. He wants Trudeau to enforce existing Canadian national laws. Justin's rage is that he doesn't want to enforce existing morality. The Canadian establishment has been taking Big Money from the 'Triads' / organized crime lords who thrive on crime. As for academic thought on such matters -- it's all rubbish. Canada and America are NOT equal trade partners. The US is one of the least dependent trading nations. So what's huge to Canada is a side show for America. Canada can be replaced -- in trading -- whereas America can't be replaced -- in trading. One is reminded of an adolescent arguing with his father over his allowance. It's THAT imbalanced. To no-one's surprise, America's counter-parties are all caving in -- tout suite. Red China is a whole different situation. It's not a partner, rival, or anything but an enemy -- strategically. This is a role that the CCP has set out for itself purely from a dogmatic point of existence. America tried it the other way, and the CCP is not willing to play by anyone's rules or customs. Period.
