Ukraine never sent its atomic holdings back to Russia. They were cannibalized in situ. Re-watch "The World is not Enough" -- the Bond flick. This was a major plot element. It was portrayed rather accurately. The USA paid for the whole process -- and moved all of the weapons grade plutonium and uranium into our power reactors. It's all gone, now. Likewise, the entire stock trimmed back because of Reagan's treaties was so converted -- for both powers. The deal with Russia is that their standard power reactors always produce more atomic explosive (Pu 239) every single day. Ukraine's did too. They were modified to suit the IAEA to stop said production. ( You leave the material in so long that it's poisoned for bomb kraft. )

I expect that Trump will 'negotiate' with Putin -- and see things going no-where. I expect that during Trump's negotiation, he'll simply HAVE to keep supporting Ukraine. I do expect that Zelenskyy is on 'the bubble' back home. Like Churchill before him, there will be no sign of revolt/ disgust, until there is. Zelenskyy is NOT a proper executive. He's a SALESMAN. In American commerce, salesmen almost never make it to the C-suite. They are one-trick Charlies. Everything else is too complicated for them -- between the ears. Face-to-face, they come off as terrific. But, that's about it. Most actors also fit this profile. In all such roles, they never have to produce substance -- just the vibe, the image, that closes a sale.

@guidosarducci209 Gas... you've nailed it. But Ukraine has no oil. Putin, personally, owns 1/3 of Gazprom -- thru cut-outs. It's the reason why he never has to pass the hat during his 'campaigns for re-election.'
