Live Oak was wooden armor plate... and the Constitution had plenty of it where it counted.

BTW, many RN frigates were self-limiting to a straight carronade load-out. The only long-guns were their chase guns -- at the bow and stern. This was especially common after Trafalgar -- when there was virtually no chance that a frigate would ever square off against long-guns. For ship-to-ship combat, carronades had many, many advantages. The universal RN tactic was to get in close and simply blast away. It worked everywhere except when they ran into Live Oak 'Armor.'

@Garret Phegley Close, but you've got time reversed. Donitz flatly admitted that the U-boat fleet got its ENTIRE rationale from the USN during the war of 1812!!!! The USA showed that Britain's naval weakness was the near-shore zone. In the Deep Blue, the RN was hyper-dominant. In this period the RN simply had everything going for it.
