  1. Error. The KC-135 was designed FIRST. The Boeing company found that no civilian market existed for the C-135 -- which was their hope. So they had to go back and design the 707 -- which used the aerodynamics of the 135 -- but an expanded body and other features. Yes, the 135 was too narrow to get enough seats across -- critical for commercial economics.
