psmernos It's not going to run out. Retail gasoline is taxed by the gallon -- something silly. I pay half the Californian price. The difference is in direct and indirect taxation.

psmernos There are some kickers: 1) The power grid -- anywhere -- can't support EVs beyond a tiny percentage. 2) State (road) budgets can't tolerate EV's beyond a tiny percentage. (They don't pay road taxes.) {But in California, they get to use the (costly) high occupancy lane during rush hour.} 3) Nickel mining is filthy beyond belief. It's in the nature of the element/ metal. 4) Batteries are more dangerous during a car fire than gasoline. Shorts create plasma arcs at 6,000C on up. I lost my truck to one. The firemen wouldn't even approach it until the batteries exhausted their energies. 5) Converting methane to electricity and then into a battery pack just bleeds energy. So the primary energy source requires more fuel consumption. 6) EVs only work in mild climates. Way up north, they are no option at all. All batteries lose electro-potential when the temperature drops. IC engines actually love the cold -- as long as it's not too extreme... for they are heat engines that exploit temperature differences. 7) Batteries just don't last anything like a Toyota. No wonder Toyota engineers don't believe in them. The best car manufacturer in the world is going everywhere but EVs.

Permits are the killer. The Keystone XL Pipeline died when Biden jerked its Federal permits. The project already had every state and province on board... and pipe staged along the route. As a direct result, Biden has gone hat-in-hand to Venezuela and (with Putin as our intermediary) Iran. Biden is stranger than insanity.
