The primary reason for his nasty, EMOTIONALLY targeted attacks, is to cause the reactions seen with the women commenting above. Putin WANTS NATO nations to be furious -- and then to jump in. He's actually desperate for NATO to unify Russia. Putin is BAITING NATO nations.
