  1. The OP has gone through a totally unnecessary recitation of recent history WITHOUT bringing up what is essential: Erdogan's political grand strategy of muslim authoritarianism. BTW, the so-called coup was so slip-shod that there is no way that any rational mind could buy Erdogan's 'take' on the event. A military that had previously shown exactly how to rein in wayward politicians who strayed from the path of Attaturk suddenly turned into the three-stooges. No-one is buying it. It was a self-coup... destined to fail... as the pretext for exactly what Erdogan was so well prepared for. In an echo of Adolf, Erdogan went tooth and claw against his decades-long allies. They never saw it coming. The OP also left out the edifice complex of Erdogan. His personal abode is one of the most expensive palaces the world has ever known. Notionally, it was build for the Prime Minister -- when he was PM. Then it was built for the President -- when he became president. It was only ever built for himself. In scale and extravagance his palace is an echo of that in Bucharest. Such edifices show exactly where a dictator's mind is at. Adolf thought big, too.
