Corrections: Being of the Correct Generation... Agent Orange and its baleful effects were NOT known at the time. It was THAT secret. America WAS shocked -- every night -- as the MSM broadcast film footage from the war. The GIs were NOT a bunch of happy campers. Things were not going off like France 1944. Vietnam was a truly alien (corrupting) culture. To top things off, DRUGS became a HUGE issue as the enemy went out of its way to addict GIs as a matter of policy. (Thank you, CIA) Of course, the enemy also used drugs on its own troops -- as a matter of routine. This is still largely a taboo topic... fifty-years later. Next, the KGB was FINANCING the anti-War movement -- not at first -- but soon, Moscow got on it. This is NOT happening in Russia, today. The ONE big parallel from Vietnam: LBJ kept making micro-decisions of battle -- as does Putin, today. In both cases, such decisions -- the entire logic of Presidential interventioning -- ended up as pure insanity.
