  1. Turing did NOT invent the modern digital computer. Atanasoff did -- with the inspiration occurring in 1938 -- years ahead of Turing. Turing re-invented the digital computer during WWII. Atanasoff's status was decided in Federal court in the most expensive patent litigation up until that time. Inflation adjusted, it still is. The entire industry was in the courtroom. Atanasoff was the most significant inventor of the 20th Century -- and most of his stuff is still Top Secret defense electronics. Think 'Polaris missile system' -- and MUCH else. Because his circuits were Top Secret and above, he is a cypher to most.
